Hourly Rate: $25/hour for 10 hours per week (invoiced, $1000.00, every 4 weeks)

Alcove Centre for the Arts

Alcove Centre for the Arts is a nonprofit organization based in Calgary, AB with the aim of making art more accessible and to promote a vibrant arts sector.

Our organization operates a Recreational Art Space in downtown Calgary (244 7th Ave SW), where we host workshops, events, and a free drop-in art space stocked with supplies and instruments for public use. In addition to our onsite programming, we regularly organize and participate in community events across the city. Alcove’s arts programs span a wide range of disciplines, including visual arts, music, textiles, crafts, creative writing, and more.

Purpose:
At Alcove Centre for the Arts, we believe in building strong relationships that sustain creativity. We are seeking an energetic Partnerships Coordinator (Contract) to connect with sponsors and corporate partners, fostering collaborations that support our programs and expand our impact in the community.

This is an independent contract position for a 4-month term, with the possibility of renewal. As Alcove’s funding and capacity grow, there may also be an opportunity for this role to transition into an employee position.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, and reach out to potential sponsors and corporate partners.

  • Lead outreach for Alcove’s Community Card initiative by engaging local businesses and organizations, while driving sales through our ‘Team Package’ initiatives.

  • Support the development of sponsor packages and promotional materials in collaboration with the Executive team and Marketing Coordinator.

  • Coordinate and schedule tours of Alcove’s Recreational Art Space for prospective and current partners.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing sponsors and partners.

  • Support program staff in identifying partnership opportunities that enhance specific events or initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate records of outreach, partnership agreements, and sponsor engagement.

Must Have Skills/Experience:

  • Relevant experience in communications, sales, or a similar field (nonprofit experience is an asset but not required.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive long term relationships with stakeholders and funders.

  • Comfort with outreach, including cold calls/emails, networking, and in-person meetings.

  • Ability to confidently present Alcove’s programs, products, and services to potential partners.

  • Resourcefulness and adaptability.

  • You must have your own laptop or personal computer. 

  • A desire to support Calgary’s local arts sector!

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with writing proposals, sponsorship packages, and other relevant materials for sponsors and funders.

  • Experience leveraging LinkedIn or similar platforms for professional networking and outreach.

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Keela, HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.

  • Experience with online nonprofit/charity platforms such as Benevity.

  • Knowledge of Calgary’s business and corporate community.

Work Conditions

Our Operations Team operates in a flexible hybrid model. Contractors may work primarily from home or at our Downtown Calgary office. Weekly virtual team meetings are scheduled to maintain coordination; outside of these meetings, hours are flexible and can be arranged to accommodate individual schedules.

Contractor status:
This is a contract role. The contractor will invoice Alcove for services rendered and is responsible for their own taxes, deductions, and insurance.
