What to Expect:

We know what it is like when your sense of self crumbles every time someone gives you a piece of ‘constructive feedback’, or every time you are passed over for a role. That is a hell of a roller coaster. Are you ready to get off the ride? In this experiential workshop you will discover new things about who you are and what you value. And the best part is, learning those things will help you get off the rollercoaster believing everything that other people think and say about you. One thing is for sure, you will walk away knowing more about the most fascinating of subjects: Yourself.

Workshop Promises:

Learn a framework for understanding your identity as multifaceted and gain agency over how the opinions of others affect you.

Explore your unique values as the starting point for knowing and understanding yourself better through a hands-on activity.

Discover how self-discovery can be playful and low pressure through Alchemy's experiment-based process.

Who Should Attend:

This is for the artists who have an existential crisis every time they get a rejection email, the ones who struggle to make decisions they feel confident about, and the ones who get sent on a spiral when someone gives them feedback on their art, good or bad. Artists in any discipline are welcome, at any point in their career. From emerging to seasoned, every artist can benefit from an opportunity to get reacquainted with themself.

Meet Your Facilitator:

Javelin Laurence (they/them) is a coach, researcher, and storyteller with a passion for self discovery. They believe there are no uninteresting subjects, only uninterested people. Javelin is proudly neurodivergent and trans nonbinary, and their coaching is specialized for humans who share one or both of these identities. They have a ICF accredited diploma in Coaching and Counselling from Rhodes Wellness College. In addition to being a coach, they have been a working actor and performance artist here in Calgary for more than 10 years. Javelin is passionate about bringing their wellness education to their arts community!
