Hand Sewing with Tia Workshop

  • The Alcove Centre for the Arts 244 7 Avenue Southwest Calgary, AB, T2P 0W6 Canada (map)

Welcome to Sewing 101, an easy-going introduction to the art of sewing! In this 2 hour class, we will focus on essential hand-sewing techniques that will help you revive and maintain your clothing. Throughout the class, you will practice different techniques by sewing a screen printed patch onto your favorite bag or jacket and flipping through your very own hand-sewing zine! Demonstrations and samples will be available for reference which means you can learn at your own pace. So whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class will equip you with the fundamental techniques to handle various mending tasks and unleash your creativity. All ages, family friendly.

It is recommended that attendees bring something they would like to add their patch, and if they have any patches collecting dust at home, they can bring them as well! If they do not have anything to put their patch on, fabric will be provided!

Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $10 - $15 to support facilitator fees and supplies.
